Jesus Christ Is Coming!

Jesus Christ Is Coming!

In all the years of human existence, mankind has never achieved world peace, let alone secure the most basic needs for every man, woman and child on the planet. Starvation and extreme poverty can be found in every corner of the globe, and in a world filled with violence, tragedy, and suffering of all kinds, we hope, even if only for a moment, you might pause to consider that things can be different. The world will not always be this way. The truth is change is not only possible, it is, inevitable. ...

The Night To Be Observed

The Night To Be Observed

What is the meaning of the Night to be Observed? Why are we here? Last night we observed the Passover in commemoration of Christ's death, which was necessary to pay the penalty of our past sins and to reconcile us to the Father. However, our acceptance of Christ's sacrifice in payment of the penalty of our sins is only the first step toward salvation. Once we have repented of our sins and been forgiven by God, He wants us to forsake sin! In Romans 6:1-2 the Apostle Paul plainly stated: V1 "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? V2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?" ...

What Is Leaven?

What Is Leaven?

As you know, during the Days of Unleavened Bread, we are to have no leaven or leavened products in our homes (Exodus 12:15; Exodus 13:7). This includes any agent that produces fermentation and causes dough to rise - yeast, baking soda, baking powder, and the like. Items such as bread, cake, crackers, cookies, and prepared cereals and pies, which contain leavening, of course, must be put out. Doing so is symbolic of putting both the visible and the hidden sins out of our lives. ...

Passover Preparation Instructions

Passover Preparation Instructions

The Passover service is a solemn occasion. It is not a time for laughing and general fellowshipping. Therefore, prior to the service, the church members should assemble quietly and respectfully. This does not mean that everyone should wear a long face and avoid even the briefest greeting. Christ's Passover meal with His disciples reflects warmth and friendship, without detracting from the solemnity of the occasion. Our minds should be focused on the purpose of the service and our relationship with God. This service is the most solemn and serious occasion of the entire year - the anniversary of the death of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Passover is observed in MEMORY of His suffering and death. ...

Fundamental Doctrines of the Church of God Assembly

Baptism in commanded by God for salvation (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:36-42). The apostle Peter commanded the crowd gathered in Jerusalem, on the day of Pentecost, in A.D. 31 - "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins..." (Acts 2:38). The word "baptize" is a Greek word - literally in the Greek the word is baptizo - it means to immerse - "to plunge into" or "put into." It does not mean to "sprinkle" or "to pour." The Greek word for "sprinkle" is rantizo and "to pour" is Therefore, sprinkling and pouring are not forms of baptism. Immersion - being placed completely under water is. ...

Church of God Assembly - About Us

The Church of God Assembly (CGA) believes that our Maker's grand purpose in creating man is to perfect individuals by the power of Christ and eventually give the saints immortality and glory like Christ (Daniel 12:3). God's purpose is for us to ultimately be "born again" as spirit beings into His Family (John 3:3-8; I Corinthians 15:50-54; Romans 8:16-17; Philippians 3:21; I John 3:2; Revelation 21:7). ...
