What The Bible Says About the Origin of the Devil and His Final Judgment (Part 2)

Well, today everybody I plan to pick up where I left off in a sermon a few weeks ago. The title of the sermon was: What The Bible Says About the Origin of the Devil and His Final Judgment and we spent the first sermon that we gave there in Baltimore basically on the first half of that: What is the origin of Satan the devil. We know that God did not create a devil. What God created was perfect. Everything He creates is perfect. He created a beautiful, perfect Archangel who later because of pride and vanity was lifted up with pride and vanity, sinned and rebelled against God and his tail drew a third of the stars. And the stars were a symbol for angels in a rebellion to go against God. And those fallen angels are now called demons and satan is that devil that has deceived the whole world as ...

Prepare to Meet Your Creator

So we are making preparations for the Fall Holy day season. I know that you start to kind of count down. We've often done the feast chains and things like that. Feast of Trumpets is 16 days away, so is that a week, 2 weeks from Monday. The Feast of Tabernacles is 4 weeks from tomorrow, that's the opening night. Day of Atonement of course right in the middle of all that. We are no doubt focusing on our attention on the days ahead. Getting ready for another great fall Holy day season. It's exciting, again I love, I saw the leaves starting to drop, starting to fall there even though it's still warm, we're starting to see those leaves going down and you know what's coming next. You know what we're looking forward to. You know what's around the corner. Again I know I mentioned j ...

Lest We Be Deceived

Well I had the news on this morning, I don't know 4 o'clock this morning, couldn't sleep. So I had the news on and lo and behold I thought maybe I was dreaming, I wasn't hearing what I was hearing. But sure enough I looked it up and it is true. State of California, the legislative body, they passed a bill to make California a refuge state for transgender children. Meaning that in that bill is to make California a refuge state for transgender children and their families from other states that criminalize youth gender affirming the care treatments. It was passed in the assembly you know on Monday. Did I really hear this? ...

Simplicity in Christ

I think everyone would agree with me that we live in a very complex and complicated world, don't we? I think everybody would agree with me. It seems like everything now that man puts his mind to, everything he puts his hand to do apart from God turns into a hodgepodge of complex, complicated ideas. And what's even more interesting is these worldly people are highly intelligent. Just ask them. They're very smart, but yet when they come up with ideas, they're very complex, complicated. I brought with me an example of how endlessly complicated the world is. It's an article from a philosopher of all things. ...

What The Bible Says About the Origin of the Devil and His Final Judgment - Part 1

Okay, enough about that, let's get into the sermon. I've got a lot to cover today and I might not get through it all. As you know most of you know I used to be a coach, an athletic director and a teacher and I still can't get the teacher part out of me and today we're going to teach much like what Mr. Schroeder did. There's some things I want to cover, you might want to take notes, mark your bible. You should know what we're covering here. If you're wondering what the title is I'm going to cover 2 topics, at least attempt to. What I don't finish, I'll do another day. But the title is: What The Bible Says About the Origin of the Devil and His Final Judgment. In other words the fate of satan and the demons. So this is a topic that seems to be a hot button issue, both thes ...

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

It's certainly difficult news, I know many of the brethren are familiar with the Jackson family. Of course I've met JD over the time, I've been able to meet and spend time with JD. He used to work there at the shop in Tennessee, got to know him for a while. These are difficult things and we've talked about this in time past about tragedies like this that do take place and it's a moment where we recognize once again that God has not forgotten what's going on. He's not asleep at the wheel. He's certainly is aware of these things and for each of us for to kind of take time and meditate on that. Of course praying and asking for God to put His arms around Thea and her children there. That He would encourage them, help them through this time, but again we know who God is. We know ...

Setting Godly Principles

Sometimes when you listen to certain music it kind of brings back memories. You can remember kind of like where you were like the first time you heard that song. And I was watching this interview with Richard Carpenter and he was talking about Karen Carpenter and you know they played the song and Karen has such a beautiful voice. And it kind of reminds me of wow, I remember where I was when I heard that song back in the 70's. I'd like to compare many of you are 3 scores and 10, maybe not in here but where I come from there's a lot of us is 3 scores and 10 and even more but anyway we remember things that happened in the 70's and I'd like to compare it to 2022. ...

Hold the Line

While we were at camp, one night on a Friday night before Bible study everybody dressed up in their Bible study clothes and we walked over to behind the dining hall to have a big all camp photo. We try to get you a photo of everybody at one time in one place every year that we have camp. We're actually having Mr. Dickson's putting together a yearbook for us so we'll have a yearbook with some pictures from last year and all of the photos from this year and that all camp photo will be a part of it. The deal was we got down behind the dining hall and the sun was just the wrong angle. It was right over the top of the dining hall, right in the faces of everybody trying to get a picture and so it took about 15 minutes for us to finally you know get in the right position. We actually turne ...

A Lifetime of Testing

Thank you very much ladies, did a wonderful job, see that they go to camp. We see them sing it at camp and then they come back and that's what happens. You just got to get up here and do it some more. It's fantastic, we love to have it. It's exciting to see the wonderful talent we did have at camp. We were able to get to spend some time with the young people and see all the things that they can do and the wonderful opportunities that they have to be a part of God's church and God's work and his family. And it's just exciting. We are officially back from camp, things are just starting to roll a little bit. We've had 2 weeks to kind of get back to the normal day to day I think. The routine of it all and it's given me time to I guess kind of look back and consider how things ...

Christianity 101

I hope everyone knows that when we're up here speaking and it seems like we're stepping on your toes, at first we stepped on our own toes. We first speak to ourselves and then we speak to others. And today I'm going to be speaking to you about some very, very simple topics. I'm a simple minded individual and we'll be speaking about something that's very simple. Something you've heard before. Hope you haven't gotten tired of it. If you will you'll be turning over to Matthew, Chapter 4, I think we'll begin somewhere in that area. We read in Matthew, Chapter 3 where Jesus himself came and was baptized. Certainly didn't need to be baptized, he set an example for all those that would follow him. ...

Service Is a Privilege

All right for the sermon today, I just thought this would be an appropriate topic. We just had 3 ordinations and today I want to talk about the fact that service is a privilege. And that's the title of the sermon: Service Is a Privilege. Sometimes we don't look at it that way. Certainly many people in the world don't look at service as a privilege. But when you think of it, the fact that you actually have an opportunity and that I have an opportunity to serve someone else, to help someone else on the path to the Kingdom here at camp. And to encourage and strengthen them and lift them up when they fall down. The fact that we can do that, that we're alive that we have the health and the well-being that we can get involved that way is certainly a blessing. God looks for people who lov ...

The Courage of Youth and the Strength of Humility

Okay, so what are you waiting for? What are you waiting for? Or are you waiting to commit yourself to a life of change? It's awesome to see so many of you here. Campers, we're so glad that you came that you wanted to be here or for those whose parents forced them to come, thank you for giving it a shot. We hope you're having a great time, but in a week we're all going to go home. It will be over fast, it does goes by quickly. And we're going to quickly be reminded that since we've been here the world has kept right on spinning. While we learn about God while we laugh and play games, while we make friends and build relationships, people out there continue to suffer. And we're going to have to go right back to it and that is the reality that Jesus Christ set up for us. He didn ...

The Doctrine of Clean and Unclean Meats

You ever noticed how God's people are trained to always ask the question? Is it clean or is it unclean? Now that's typical when we go to the grocery store and when we purchase food items, right? That's a concern we have and we which it just comes natural right? We just naturally do it, we're trained over the years to ask that question. But that same training can apply to many other things in life, example is: Covid vaccine. I want to pick on that for just a minute, is it clean, is it unclean? I'm not going to ask to answer that question for you. I'm going to give you the answer from, but it is an important question to ask. But I'm going to give that answer from a website called Immunized BC. ...

God of Mercy

I do want to talk about a topic that's really timely for this time of year but also a topic that really fits year-round for all of us. And the title of sermon is: God of Mercy. And I'd like to use as the basis for a sermon an example that we find in the Old Testament of a King. And if you're thinking in the Old Testament about kings you're thinking about good kings, you're thinking about wicked kings. Today I want to talk about the most wicked king, whoever ruled the land of Judah and asked the question, does that king still have a chance to enter the Kingdom of God or not? And how do we know based on scriptures. And we want to learn some lessons from this King Manasseh. Manasseh's father as many of you are aware was a righteous King, a prosperous King. ...

Stay Strong, Stay Positive, and Never Give Up

All right for the sermon today I've been thinking about this topic for some time, quite a bit here recently. Some of you are note takers so if you want to write a title down and give that to you, I don't always do that right out of the gate, but today I will. The title today is: Stay Strong, Stay Positive, and Never Give Up. Stay Strong, Stay Positive, and Never Give Up. I'd like to begin by telling you a short story. I haven't told this story very often so most of you will not have heard it. This is a true story, it happened a lot of years ago now. I'll be, I??m 59, I'll be 60 in February and I was 6 or 7 when this happened. We were living on a farm in North Dakota about 7 miles south of the Canadian border. ...
