Well its official, this week we witnessed the inauguration of the 46th President of the United States. President Joseph Biden, only the second catholic in history of our nation was sworn in on a bible kept in his family for generations. Like nearly all of his predecessors he invoked the name of God throughout his address. He then had a protestant pastor an African, Methodist, Episcopalian give the benediction asking God to bless the ceremony and the transfer of power. The President bowed his head in a moment of apparent devotion and prayer, again tipping his hat to God. He even received a message of encouragement from Pope Francis himself who wrote "On the occasion of your inauguration as the 46th President of the United States of America, I extend cordial good wishes in the assurance of my prayers that Almighty God will grant you wisdom and strength in the exercise of your high office". ... |
